Review of Tabletops Unlimited "Lexi" 16-Piece Dinnerware Set

I read the review and bought 3 sets of these dishes because they looked good in the picture and I paid about $55 (including tax) for a 16 piece place setting. First of all, the boxes they are packed in are not tightly secured, especially at the bottom. Be careful when you carry the box by the handle...the bottom may fall out. Two pieces arrived already chipped and another chipped as I took it out of the wrapping. I am keeping the dishes because they are ok and my daughter really likes them, but be aware: they are quite bulky and made of that porous stoneware that is quite thick. I had to rearrange my cupboards and extend shelves to make room. I even had to replace my cup hooks with the largest size I could find (1 1/4 inch barely work) and they kind of hang precariously. Here are the dimensions:8 dinner plates (11"x11") stack up to 5" in height; 8 (8"x8")sandwich plates (which are kind of like mini bowls)stack up to 5 3/4 ", 2 bowls (yes, 2) stack up to 5 1/4" and they are each 3 1/4" tall and 6" in diameter. The cups are 4 3/4" tall and 3 1/4" in diameter. The handles are about 3/4" wide.Dishwasher: Since the plates are deepset and tall, these dishes barely fit into my diswasher and have to be gently worked into place. In fact, my previous dishwasher(built circa 1996) would not have accomodated these dishes at all.

All in all, the dinner set is in the very least, interesting. If you like chunky china, then this is the set for you!
