Review of Spode Camilla Pink 12-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4

I already had this pattern, originally purchased from Ross-Simons, but had four of everything (except salad plates, as I got some special ones with winter scenes to compliment the ones I had with the regular pattern on them, so I had 8 salad plates).I needed more place settings to accomodate Thanksgiving guests, so I ordered these.I was happy to get the mugs, which I use for serving coffee, as my set only had teacups and saucers, which are smaller and more delicate.

If you like Spode, you'll like this.I wanted some Spode, but something different from Blue Italian, which is the most commonly purchased pattern (and I see why, as it's lovely and more ornate in design than this, but still, I wanted something different, and I like this cranberry color). This is nice dinnerware. It is plenty elegant (I always use it for thanksgiving, sometimes also for Christmas), but is not bone china. Therefore, it can go in the dishwasher.I've had it for years and nothing has gotten chipped. That said, I only use it twice a year.

The same set was on sale recently for about half what it is offered for now, a few major vendors including amazon, so look around.I was actually surprised to see the pattern so available, as it used to be somewhat rare.I guess the pattern has gotten a revival.

It isn't actually pink, but rather cranberry. If you get a white lace tablecloth and silver chargers and accessories and cranberry napkins and runner, cranberry dining chair covers, it makes for a lovely setting.

If you mix the blue and the pink Spode within the same table setting, I believe it's called confetti. The fun in Spode is collecting, and with all of the different scenes, it's just nice.Spode will occasionally (seasonally, etc.) come out with special items that coordinate but are different.Hopefully this means these limited edition items will be valuable over time.
