This is our third set of Corelle (or maybe fourth) in 30 years. (I like to change patterns). I like dishes that are light weight enough that the children can set and clear the table. And sturdy enough that everything doesn't get broken from their handling. These are lightweight, sturdy, and LOOK GREAT! That is important to me too.I love stoneware, but it is highly unpractical for us - too heavy and easily broken. Tupperware is fine, but all plastic gets crummy looking after a while, and nice looking dishes are - nice. Corelle looks nice. With open stock available, I'm able to add extra pieces or even replace the occasional piece that does get chipped, so they keep looking nice.
I chose this pattern because of color and also because I wanted a cup and saucer, not a stoneware mug. Many of the sets have gone to the mugs.
