I bought these for everyday use along with some extra pieces. They are very well made. The bottom rims are not finished (like other Italian dishes I have bought in the past) over with glaze so the fired clay rim on the bottom will scratch the other plates if you slide them around on the finished surfaces. Excellent colors and fun to use-and the prices at Amazon make them available for poor folk like me. For larger families with children these should work really well because currently one can buy extra plates & such at a very low price-for future breakage. Another thing I really liked was the very reasonably priced pitcher. I didn't need or want a pitcher for liquids and I knew it would make a perfect kitchen utensil holder. It does. Any of the Pinzon/Caleca pitchers in any collection will make a perfect ceramic utensil bin for your kitchen stuff. More attractive than most utensil holders made for that purpose and also less expensive & better quality than most.
