This "Sedona" style soup or cereal bowl by Pfaltzgraff is indeed dishwasher and microwave safe. The manufacturer claims that it is also oven and freezer safe; but I can't comment on that because I haven't used it in the oven and freezer. Although this is made to be a soup or cereal bowl; this can also be used for deserts such as ice cream. Great!
The design of the bowl is very smart. The interior of the bowl is a warm cream color freckled with blue specks that are all hand painted. This design is nicely complemented by the predominantly warm, earthy tones of the different colored stripes all around the outside of the bowl. The navy blue stripes at the very top and bottom of the outside of the bowl give the bowl a sharp, smart look. The overall effect certainly does give it that vibrant southwest feel; the design can also go with many contemporary and even modern dining room sets.
This soup or cereal bowl is completely hand painted; that impresses me. There is a five year warranty but with the great design of these plates I doubt you'll ever need it! When I handle the bowl it feels remarkably sturdy and solid.
