We love cold cereal & hot oatmeal and we like BIG bowls of it,so that's not what we bought these fairly small bowls for. Instead :::[1] For folks on special diets : think portion control (hmmm perhaps for cold cereal as well as restricted veggies & desserts, since so much cerealstill contains a good deal of sugar &-or fat). ...
[2] For those who entertain a lot : think 'stand-up eating.'Small enough for guests to hold in one hand very easily; won't wobble & tip when guests set them down, either.Also very appealing (all those colors) filled with any hot or cold nibbles or finger-foods & scattered around the dining or living room. ...
[3] For those of you who cook & bake a lot, especially if you do so for a crowd : think 'prep bowls.'Sturdy but not heavy, and wonderfully steady with those flat bottoms. ...
You might consider getting these in as many colors as match your tableware, so you can actually use them for small cereal-salad-dessert-etc portions, for sauces, for party foods, and so on.
Then set aside at least one of each color to use as prep bowls, AND use the same color for the same thing all the time ( say, white always for sugar or onions , green always for sweet peppers or herbs , & so on and so forth according to whatever you most often cook or bake with ).We find this a really handy time saver : just reach for the bowl color when it's time for the ingredient.And there certainly are plenty of different colors available!
