We love Fiesta ware, and purchased rimmed soup bowls thinking, "Ooh, a sort-of formal piece of china to add to our Fiesta collection!" It definitely works for soup but it's also our first choice for pasta, chili and big salads--stuff that might need a little more corraling than a plate can provide (like a big mounded salad) but not necessarily something liquidy like soup. It holds more than the bowls that come as part of the 4- or 5-piece sets Fiesta ware comes in, too.
Funny, how something as simple as a soup plate can spoil you!
