Review of Pfaltzgraff Ocean Breeze 16-Piece Dinnerware Set. Service for 4

Although these dishes have a sturdy feel to them they chip rather easily. I have never had a set of dishes I liked less. I just received my new set of Fiestaware dishes and am happy to see these go. A big part of my problem is that they are stoneware and they get black marks all over them from coming in contact with metal utensils. I understand that you can purchase a special cleanser to remove these marks but why on earth do I want to put more chemicals on my dishes? I don't, so I didn't and they look terrible. Most of them are misshappen, which I guess is another feature of stoneware. Oh yeah, another thing about stoneware you can not soak them in water. They warn you about this in the instructions. Pfaltzgraff is also no longer made in the US. This is something to consider with all of the issues that have recently come up regarding imports from China.

If you are looking for an alternative I recommend Fiestaware dishes. They are US made and come in great colors they do not get black marks on them and they are LEAD-FREE. They are smooth and still have a bit of weight to them like the Pfaltzgraff, but are much nicer and stronger.

Bottom line, unless you like black marks or additional cleansers do not waste your money.

Product Description
Standing on the shore and looking out at the sea, you see bands of color as the ocean gets deeper and deeper. This is the progression of color that makes up Ocean Breeze. Three ridges are sculpted into the rim of the dinnerware, each holding a single shade, creating a dramatic evolution of color. Whenever the family gathers for celebrations or you're entertaining friends at dinner, you can always use a few more place settings. This 16-piece set includes four each of: dinner plate, salad plate, rim soup bowl and mug.
