I bought this as a gift so I can't tell you about it's functionality, but it is beautiful, and if you have someone who likes wine and collects crystal pieces then I suggest you combine your friend's interests and look at some of these pieces. The bottom of the carafe is where all of the decoration is, it looks like a sunflower, I think. It's pretty thick, which is typical of Waterford.Product Description
