I did write to various manufacturers and decided to go with Reed & Barton, simply because they were one of the few companies that responded back to my inquiries regarding 'where' their Flatware was manufactured (All of their "Stainless Steel" Flatware is made in China), and were at the very least straight forward about it (some responses I got back were extremely vague - ie..they couldn't nail down production of any particular pattern to one location or another).I also read far more positive reviews on the 18/8 Reed & Barton sets than I had on any other 18/8 Flatware sets.
This set has a nice weight to it, but isn't too heavy. It's very sleek and elegant and I love the length of this collection. The tines on the dinner forks are a bit longer than what I'm accustomed to, but I think that seems to be the fashion now for flatware at this time (at least from what I've seen in Department stores as of late). These have been through the dishwasher several times and there are no signs of corrosion, even on the knives (which were always the 'problem pieces' in my last set of 18/8 flatware). These also have a beautiful shine to them! They're definitely quality made pieces that I can see lasting years and years in my home with proper care.I think this set is one of the best combinations of value and quality that you'll find in flatware today.
