Sitting down to dinner with this clean elegant set is a joy to look at as well as to hold. It has been through everyday use and holiday settings for a decade. I liked it so much so that when the ex got this set in the divorce, finding the boxed set as a replacement in one purchase made eating at home with my children feel more like "home" again. Very tempted to get another set, one for each of them. It holds up well, doesn't scratch easily, and the manufacturing is of very good quality. No "stains" at the joints between the knife blade and the handle in ten years.The box it comes in is a black lacquered finish with red velvet interior. I did get extra large spoons and some of the other serving pieces for those holiday settings with lots of serving platters and bowls.
I love the design, the heft, the balance, the shine.
Gorham stopped making this pattern in 2004. So supplies will be harder to find as time goes on.
