I have had this pattern of china for years but recently saw these pasta bowls and ordered some.They are the perfect size and I love them--don't know how I managed without them all this time!
These are bigger than 12 inches wide.I bought them to fit on a table that's 24 inches wide, so the fact that they are too big is frustrating.Also, after washing, they won't lie flat.Time to shop for new ones.
I broke the coffee cup from my persimmon place setting and needed a replacement.I was nervous about the color matching up exactly, since different lots of products sometimes use slightly different dyes, but it matches great.Shipping was a bit steep for a single coffee cup, but at this point it was worth it.
Corfu is the newest of Villeroy & Boch's Switch 3 patterns (I guess that makes it Switch *four*, huh? hehe)Pros:
1) Very durable - they handle all sorts of abuse in our household including getting banged into the faucet while being washed.
2) The ability to mix and match the corresponding patterns is nice. If I get tired of a particular design, I can simply change it.
3) These dishes are dishwasher and microwave safe.
4) The patterns are very versatile and are perfect for both everyday use and for formal occasions. This is great for households with limited storage - instead of two sets of dishes (one everyday, one formal), you only need one set and just switch around your table accessories.
Cons:
1) This isn't really a "con" per se, but a warning: These are microwave safe, but be careful! We microwaved something one time and I guess we set the time for two long, because when the food became superheated it literally cracked the plate it was on (note: it was not the Corfu dinner plate). When we took the plate back to the store, we were advised that nothing is entirely "microwave safe" and you just have to be careful. Just thought you should know...
Overall, I would highly recommend any Villeroy & Boch set, based on our very positive experience with our set. ENJOY!

This is just one of many pieces of Portmeirion that I own; I love the beautiful botanical patterns and find that they are gorgeous empty or with prepared food.I will keep adding pieces to my collection as they are not only pretty, but functional.
The price for this platter could not be touched in a retail stone.
